More guitars. It’s never a bad rule of thumb.
Unless you’re at an EDM show.
Or opening a beer hall.
Time to say willkommen to Sauf Haus, a new German beer bar opening Thursday in the former Guitar Shop space south of Dupont.
If you’re looking for somewhere to celebrate July-fest, this is the place. Because it’s a beer hall. With a roof deck.
So just head up there. You’ll see flags, string lights and brick. You’ll sit at Bavarian-style picnic tables. You’ll order from 16 all-German taps, in half-liters, liters or two-liter boots. You’ll eye the hot dog cart/oyster bar at one end, from which you can grab a brat, a few bivalves or a two-pound pretzel. Or... all of the above.
But sometimes, you’re probably aware, it does thunderstorm. In that case, stay downstairs at the bar overlooking Connecticut Avenue. Play some foosball. Try a cocktail with hefeweizen and vanilla vodka.
And sometimes it’s the weekend. And there’s European soccer on. Which is when you’ll head to the third bar in this place, the one with the giant projection screen.
Yes, people are still playing soccer.
