April showers bring May flowers.
And July showers bring giant new beer gardens.
At least this July does.
Time to pull up a bench at Denizens Brewing Co, a big outdoor slab of beer consumption just over the DC line in Silver Spring, opening tomorrow.
This is as good a place as any to hoist one for Germany—you’ll find tables and benches imported from Deutschland, some strategically placed umbrellas and a bar made from a chunk of tree. If you hate things like sun and gentle breezes (or you were pulling for Argentina), head inside to find vintage bar stools, leather-topped tables and Edison bulbs.
By September, they’ll be turning out five regular and five rotating drafts made in their downstairs brewhouse (which you’ll be able to tour). But for now you’ll have to stick with their rye IPA and some local guest drafts.
Also in the works: food. Specifically, food by the folks behind the BBQ Bus food truck. In about a month, expect them to debut a smoke-centric menu of small plates. Until then, just look for their truck and others on the curb.
Hope you can carry a lot.
