Every Thursday, Radio Bar’s serving up rare whiskeys. Which is cool of them. This week’s pick: Templeton Rye out of Iowa, purportedly the whiskey of choice of Al Capone during Prohibition. There will also be a DJ spinning. As far as we know, not the DJ of choice of Capone.
Nothing prepares the body for large amounts of lime-colored beer like a hearty Irish breakfast. So there’s this: John Martin’s endless buffet on Sunday, with stuff like shepherd’s pie and breakfast pudding. Yeah, sure, order an Irish coffee or two as well.
Speaking of brunch, this new one at the Tides has got ocean views and fried-chicken sliders. Also: soft-shell-crab benedict and sweet potato waffles. The only thing that would make it better would be bottomless Bloody Marys. Oh, right, it’s got those, too.
So on Monday, there’ll be a full moon. And it’ll be St. Pat’s Day. Our suggestion: head to the Delano Beach Club. They’re throwing a full-moon party with gratis Guinness from 9 to 10pm and live jazz all night. Jazz just sounds better when the moon is full and it’s St. Patrick’s Day.
We didn’t think it was possible, but Cecconi’s just got more Italian. And... enticing. Their new aperitivo menu (think: happy hour menu) includes things like baked gnocchi, meatballs, eggplant pizzettas and Aperol spritzes. And it starts at 4pm. Well played, Cecconi’s.
