Here’s the bad thing about barbecue:
...
That’s right, there is no bad thing about barbecue.
Ergo, you should know about Lovies BBQ. It’s a new lunch-friendly barbecue joint that’s now open in Buckhead.
First, a quick story. Two guys (let’s call them Nate and Drew, because that’s their names) grew up in Atlanta. One of them (Nate) grew up to make mouthwatering BBQ; the other (Drew) grew up to... enjoy said mouthwatering BBQ. And then they opened this place. The end.
Oh wait, that’s not the end. This is where you come in. You’ve got two options here:
1) Takeout.
Call ahead, pick up at the counter. And if there’s a wait, plop down in one of the stadium seats—they were used at Olympic Stadium in ’96.
2.) Just stop in and stay awhile.
We’re thinking lunch. Head to the covered patio and summon a combo plate. That’s pulled pork, a half a chicken and a half-pound of ribs with a couple sides (fried brussels sprouts, BBQ baked beans, etc). Pair it all with a sweet tea (beer and wine’s to come).
They’re closed on Sundays for now. But if you’re doing, say, a 12-person Super Bowl thing, just go in on Saturday and get the takeout-only family pack: 12 buns, 12 cookies, four pounds of meat...
Feeding 11 other people is optional.
