If you find yourself in Grapevine this weekend, you’ll find yourself awash in four days of wine tastings, wine tours and the occasional midday turkey-leg snack. Not to mention a cork-shooting contest. Which involves popping champagne corks for distance. Better bring some protective eyewear.
Picture this. You’re in Deep Ellum drinking rum and listening to the Reverend Horton Heat, when more than 50 tattoo artists descend upon the streets and just start permanently drawing things on everyone in sight. The reason: the Elm Street Music & Tattoo Festival. We hope.
This Friday, the Quarter turns 13. Which, yes, is Friday the 13th. Fortuitous. So come celebrate their entrance into teenhood with a bunch of Deep Ellum Brewing Co. beers, half-price comestibles and the occasional fake Jason Voorhees. Right, because it’s also a costume party. You’ve been warned.
Sunday omelets: a fine, albeit expected effort. But Sunday hot pots filled with spicy lemongrass soup, mussels and pork... now we’re getting somewhere. And that somewhere: Pakpao, for their new Suki Sundays. So grab some friends and partake in communal vats of roiling broth. It’s cathartic.
