You’ve maybe never been to a Madison. They sell... sundresses? Okay, we’re not sure, but lots of women enjoy it. And now there’s a men’s shop, with so much Americana for your body, like Gitman, Gant Rugger, Raleigh Denim and Wolverine. The shoe, not the X-Man.
If you’re in the mood to grab a new surfboard this weekend... hopefully you’re also in the mood for a pig roast, live music and oceans of gratis beer. Yup, it’s time for a swap meet. But a Deus ex Machina–style swap meet.
Cowboy hats. Wranglers. Tables covered with mountains of sweet smoked pork, ribs, wings, slaw, beans, canned beers... If you’re picturing a night in Brentwood, you’re not insane. Lucques’s famous Ribfest is back... next weekend. But this weekend, they’re doing it at Tavern, too, for the first time. Brentwood barbecue. Okay then.
Okay, so you go to the multitiered Spanish craziness that is El Cid. Then you take in a multimedia performance on stage, hosted by a “camp counselor,” that’s all about comic books you might’ve read when you were 9. Also, there’s a lot of beer happening. Just your usual Sunday, really.
If you’re doing karaoke right, it usually involves a mic, a little blue screen and some falsetto. If it also involves Russian-grandma decor, infused vodka shots and a potential Jamie Foxx sighting, that just means you’re at Mari Vanna’s new weekly karaoke blowout. We think.
