Taste of the Nation. You’re familiar with the concept. Open bar. Lots of food. Crazy vibe. Well, tonight the Taste of the Nation folks are putting on a special event. And there’ll be 50 restaurants represented, including the Bazaar, Zuma and Meat Market. We hope you skipped lunch.
Science. Occasionally it can be useful. Like when a bartender employs it to better your cocktail. Hakkasan is now serving science-y drinks like a Smoky Negroni, which involves gin, Campari, a glass orb, some Grand Marnier–infused hickory wood chips and fire. And where there’s fire... there’s gin.
Acme Bakery closed earlier this year, and your life was suddenly void of scones and custard pies. Now they’re back with a weekly pop-up at a farmers’ market in Tropical Park. And serving fried-to-order donuts in flavors like cinnamon sugar. Don’t worry, the scones will be there, too.
Funk. You don’t celebrate it enough. So you’ll want to head to Avenue D on Saturday, where there’ll be seven live bands playing old-school funk and hip-hop. There will also be open bars from Miami Club Rum. Because rum and funk go hand in hand.
Sometimes OJ alone can’t take out the sting from Saturday night’s activities. Thankfully, Thasos is now offering $15 bottomless mimosas (and sangria and Bloodys) on Sundays. And if you need more pain relievers, go with the off-menu Nutella french toast. It’s like breakfast Aleve.
