Things to do for July 18, 2013

The Weekender

Moonshine, Crab Legs and Tarantino

Islands in the stream. That’s what weekends are.

Thursday
Breakfast Bagels in Brickell
TOAST OF THE TOWN

Breakfast Bagels in Brickell

Next time you leave Blackbird after a few, walk right around the corner. There’s a new spot making fresh bagels from scratch. It’s got burgers and breakfast sandwiches like the Little Havana (egg, steak, onions, cheese). Also, it opens at 3am on Saturdays and Sundays. Just call it... convenient.

Mini Arepas, Rum and Farewell
VENE VIDI VICI

Mini Arepas, Rum and Farewell

Well, that’s it. Wynwood Kitchen & Bar is wrapping up their Taste of the Americas dinners. Their final destination: Venezuela. So this month you can say adios over arepas, pabellón criollo (beef, plantains, beans, rice and egg) and glasses of Venezuelan rum. Nothing like going out in a blaze of arepas.

Late-Night Shiso Vodka at SushiSamba
NIGHT SHIFT

Late-Night Shiso Vodka at SushiSamba

SushiSamba. You’ve been known to stop in after work for $7 shiso vodka cocktails and calamari chicharrón during their SambaHour. But if you’re game for more, they’re doing the exact same thing starting at 11pm until they close. In other words, no need to rush.

Mon-Fri, 4-7pm and 11pm-close, SushiSamba, 180 Aragon Ave, Coral Gables, 305-448-4990

Friday
Eating Crab and Watching Tarantino
SHE’S GOT LEGS

Eating Crab and Watching Tarantino

There’s a point where you just say, “Enough is enough. I don’t want any more crab.” Since that’s not true at all, you should probably head to the Alba for their all-you-can-eat king crab legs and Tarantino movie night. Because... sure.

Wednesday
A Password-Protected Whiskey Night
SHINE ON

A Password-Protected Whiskey Night

So, you missed Prohibition the first time around. But hey, chin up. Rose Bar’s recreating the whole thing on Wednesday nights. The door’s protected (email here for the password), but once inside, you’ll listen to tunes from the era and sip on moonshine cocktails. It’ll be just like 1920. You know, minus the prison time.
