Tacolicious Is Coming to North Beach

It’s like being in the desert without water.

In a rain forest without shelter.

At a Mexican hat dance without a Mexican hat.

Ah, whoops. Got ahead of ourselves there.

We were just talking about what it’s like being in North Beach without tacos.

Enter Tacolicious, the latest incarnation of that one cult-y taco house with that one fantastic name, officially opening Wednesday in the heart of pizza-and-pasta country (read: North Beach).

Relax. Take a deep breath. Count to three.

Because this place is almost here. Your tacos are almost here. And you’ll find them in a casual, pro-tequila spot with black-and-white tiled floors, elevated tables and banquettes, and a bunch of Paul Madonna art on the walls (before you ask, yes, there’s a picture of Obama eating tacos).

Don’t overthink it. Maybe just make it a sit-at-the-bar thing. It’s long. It’s got flat-screens and tequila behind it. It’s pretty much the Platonic ideal of a place where you’d sit and drink margaritas made with red-chili-pepper vinegar while blindly pointing at things on the menu.

Before you know it, here comes a taco flight. Fried-rock-cod tacos. Guajillo-braised-beef-short-rib tacos. Chorizo-and-potato tacos. So many tacos.

Places called Tacolicious are good like that.
