Steak and lounging are time-tested pastimes.
Combine the two, and we could be on to something…
Welcome to 5A5 Steak Lounge—a sleeker, more modern version of a steakhouse, blending the vibe of a cocktail lounge with an old-school steak palace—softly debuting in Jackson Square this weekend.
Named after the highest grade of Japanese beef, 5A5 is strategically located on the outskirts of FiDi—perfect for rolling in after work for happy hour, grabbing a bite and maybe even finding yourself back at the bar for a nightcap.
If you bring a date, ease your way into the experience with a few martinis in the lounge, and as you head into the dining room, don't let the glowing dot-lights in the spaceship-like dome (remnants from the Frisson days) throw you off. Just slide into the faux-alligator skin velvet-backed booths and order anything from a 27-day air-dried New York prime steak to a slab of premium Wagyu—and because the art of lounging is lost if you have the meat sweats, expect the cuts to lean more toward eight ounces.
For the next couple weeks, the guys behind 5A5 (Circolo and Bin 38) are taking it slow and trying out the menu on a select few. Which means if you want to be one of the limited number of carnivores/loungers, you'll have to email them for a test-dinner reservation.
Luckily we know someone…
