Your philosophy on barbecue is shockingly simple: anytime, anywhere.
So if it means scuttling to a strip mall in North Miami Beach, then it means scuttling to a strip mall in North Miami Beach.
Which brings us to Bulldog Barbecue, the much-anticipated bbq joint opening softly (and smokily) in a mere two days.
Opened by Howie "Bulldog" Kleinberg, he of Top Chef Miami semi-fame, Bulldog is where you'll bring a handful of your closest meat-adoring friends to feast on smoky, slow-cooked delicacies, Southern sides and a bit of booze. Kleinberg and his crew slave away on pound after pound of Carolina-style beef, zeroing in on the four basic 'cue groups: ribs, chicken, beef brisket and pulled pork.
As you enter the space (less honky-tonk than polished urban diner), you'll want to grab a wood table near the open kitchen to better witness the beautiful circle of barbecue life. Don't worry about bringing your own reserve of napkins—there are paper towel rolls mounted on the walls. Work your way into the main course, starting with cornmeal-crusted oysters, smokehouse wings, cheddar grits, chipotle fries and mac and cheese.
Barbecue is not for the faint of heart.
