Ave At It

A Handsome Sprawl of Hollywood Italian-ness

None 9 Photos Aventine
It’s a classic tale around here:

You come to Hollywood. You’re incredibly nice-looking. You stand around outside, waiting for people to notice your regal stature, your impressive foliage, your charming white lights...

You’re an olive tree. You’re glorious. And finally it’s your time to shine.

Feel the gentle breeze wafting through Aventine, a striking Hollywood beauty ready to show you its good side (that would be the enticing olive-tree-filled patio), finally soft-opening Monday.

Big picture, what you’ve got here is a little bit of Italy (wrought iron, pizzas from a wood-burning oven), a little bit of San Francisco (the original location is there) and a little bit of Hollywood atmosphere (“Did I meet you at Tower Bar the other night, or have I just seen you do something unspeakable on The Following?”).

So next time you’re on a decadent group date, show up after dark. And honestly, the inside is fine. Quite nice. There’s a marble bar and old maps and the tabletops are from an old bocce court. Molto Italiano. Plus, like, totally Cahuenga.

But... there’s this patio. So you should go there. You should eat gnocchi and short rib agnolotti there. You should drink Negroni Rossos there. They’ve got rock candy on the rim.

Call it dessert.
