Daryl Hannah in Splash.
Ariel in The Little Mermaid.
Pizza in your mouth.
Finally, there’s a restaurant that does justice to all three.
Submit to the smooth susurrations of Sirena, a nautically minded new Mediterranean spot in the former home of Pane e Vino—the name means “mermaid” in Italian—finally soft-open now.
Beyond the white entrance dotted with portholes, you’ll find it—an oasis of aquatic blue walls, a bar covered in copper scales and framed starfish all over the walls. Which will probably put you in the mood for oysters and shrimp-stuffed lasagna from their wood-fired oven. Or pizza. You’re always kind of hungry for pizza.
Now you could sit inside. And you could like it. But keep going. This place used to be Pane e Vino. Which means: yes. Legendary courtyard patio. And the guys behind this place—guys who’ve owned Pace, Porta Via and Guys and Dolls—knew better than to mess too much with such hallowed alfresco history.
Our suggested play: start by taking that TV stunner you’re seeing to Pace. Then, toward the end of the meal, casually drop a line like “If you loved this, I know another place we should try. It’s got a courtyard.” And boom, date two on the patio here, surrounded by trees and lights and privileged industry titans.
Easily your favorite kind of titan.
