The Weekender

Marilyn Monroe Is Naked and You’re Doing the Limbo

The weekend is in another castle.

Thursday
A Pop-Up Bookstore at the Standard
READING GLASSES

A Pop-Up Bookstore at the Standard

Warby Parker. You know them, they make glasses. The Standard. You know them, they make, well, hotels. Put the two together and what do you get: a pop-up lobby newsstand that’s selling vintage tomes by the likes of Kerouac, limited-edition eyewear and (probably) packs of gum.

Marilyn. In All Her Glory.
BLONDE AMBITION

Marilyn. In All Her Glory.

So the World Erotic Art Museum is honoring Marilyn Monroe (it’s about time) now through the end of November with a gallery exhibit featuring nearly 30 original photos of her. And because they’re the World Erotic Art Museum, most of those photos will be nudes. We assume you won’t have a problem with that.

A Luau to Send Off the Summer
IN LIMBO

A Luau to Send Off the Summer

Leis, tiki torches, bamboo, grass skirts... all in all, a pretty solid way to close out the season. So head to RA for their fourth-anniversary party and partake in some summer sake sangria, tropical-themed sushi rolls and a good old-fashioned limbo contest. Remember, bend at the waist.

Sep 13, 7pm, no cost for entry, RA Sushi, 5829 SW 73rd St, 305-341-0092

Saturday
The Arrival of Topman
BRITISH INVASION

The Arrival of Topman

So, Topman has opened up a pop-up shop for a spot at Nordstrom Dadeland (okay, you’re listening). This Saturday: their launch party. The kind with a DJ, a photo booth, T-shirt screen printing and several racks of sharp-looking fall wares. Nobody dresses for autumn like the Brits.

Sunday
Beer Brunching at Harry’s Pizzeria
BREAKFAST TOAST

Beer Brunching at Harry’s Pizzeria

Your brunch mimosa’s been busy lately. Time to give it a vacation. Good thing Harry’s is launching a beer brunch featuring local suds on draft and some guest chef action. This week: Whisk’s Brendan Connor, serving up chicken and biscuits and short rib pizzettes. Nothing like breakfast pizza and beer.
