Things to do for November 23, 2011
The Weekender
Whole Hog, a Temple of Beer and More Thanksgiving Essentials
The weekend’s talking turkey.
Wednesday
Pubbelly Sushi’s New Lunch
Good news: the maki maestros here are extending their hours to include lunch. Better news: in honor of this, they’re knocking 10% off your tab through December 31 (mention UD). We thought you could use an early present.
Wine with Boulud in Palm Beach
After the madness of Art Basel, you’ll need to get away for a bit—that’s where the Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival comes in. Michael Schwartz will be barbecuing and Daniel Boulud will be cocktailing, among others. Consider tomorrow a warm-up.
A Temple of Beer in Fort Lauderdale
The folks at this new joint are not messing around when it comes to beer. They’ve got 42 taps and 100 bottles to choose from, along with a 50-label bourbon list. Warning: this may lead to more nights north of the Miami-Dade county line.
Sunday
A Pork-a-palooza in Little Haiti
At this year’s swine fest (put on by food trucks GastroPod and Ms. Cheezious), you’ll have your run of the whole hog. Also: cheap beers, cocktails from the drink wizards at Bar Lab and desserts from Coolhaus. Sort of a Thanksgiving in pork form.
Tuesday
A Pop-Up Shop at Wynwood Walls
The Basel-y fun starts early in the week at this outdoor mural garden outside Joey’s. Expect live music and a chance to shop the site’s temporary store, stocked with T-shirts, books and prints designed by street artists. Why, yes, there is a major gift-giving holiday coming up...
