Things to do for November 03, 2011
The Weekender
Kate Moss, Funk and Turkey Tossing
The weekend is an offer you can’t refuse.
Thursday
20 Types of Burgers in a Park
Your search for the city’s best burger: grueling. But today, 20 candidates—including Morton’s, Por Fin, the Biltmore—will gather in one Coral Gables park. You’ll get a couple beers to help your research, or go in the VIP lounge (okay... tent) for an open bar.
Friday
Fall Friday Concerts: Now Happening
If this is looking like it’ll be a blowing-off-some-steam kind of Friday, go here: a show from local funk band Elastic Bond, part of the Fall Concert Series at PAX. Bonus: one beer on the house.
Saturday
Turkey Tossing at Tobacco Road
Food trucks: hot as ever. Turkey tossing: same situation. Fifteen of your favorites (Jefe’s, the Fish Box) will hang out in Tobacco Road’s parking lot next to a jamming DJ. Then... the turkey tossing begins. The prize: a comped bar tab in the cabaret, to rest your weary arms.
Sunday
A Boozed-Up Talent Show
So, this is... kind of reality show-ish. But stick with us. The Stage is hosting a talent contest to headline the coveted Art Basel Sunday slot—this is round two. Applications are still open, and yes: your blind scotch taste-test routine is considered a talent.
Monday
Not Your Average Duck Tour
The seedy side of Miami. You’re no doubt familiar. But should you want to show a visitor around, there’s this: a self-guided route with audio from locals like Romero Britto. You’ll be guided to Kate Moss’s haunt circa the 1980s, the location of the chainsaw scene from Scarface, and even to Cameo. Truly historic.
