Sometimes the last thing you want in wine country is wine.

Let us rephrase...

After a properly executed day of wine tasting, your beverage of choice: not wine.

We have just the place for you.

Introducing The Wurst Restaurant, a sanctuary for sausage and beer in the heart of wine country, now open right off the Healdsburg Plaza.

If it’s only beer you’re after: boom, they’ve got upwards of 20 and counting. Sausages: you’ve got eight with just as many toppings. Outdoor biergarten: check. In other words, it’s like Oktoberfest, but every day.

Inside, it’s almost as if someone took the best of Detroit and Sheboygan and plucked it into this little eatery—the wood counters are made from an old Wisconsin barn, and the bar comes from reclaimed bleachers from the University of Illinois. As for the 10-foot painting of a German sausage, do with that what you will.

Stop in for a PBR or something closer to home like Lost Coast’s Downtown Brown, a Sheboygan Brat, pommes frites and a hand-scooped milkshake. Or skip the brats and opt for the Smash Burger that comes in a custom pretzel bun.

Oh, and just in case things were getting a little too Midwest, the Detroit-born owner was once part of the catering staff that served the royal family in Kensington Palace during the ’80s.

But stay focused on sausages.
