Things to do for June 02, 2011

The Weekender

Rooftop Pools, Waterfront Cocktails and Fried Chicken

The weekend has every intention of sweeping.

Thursday
Half Off at the Viceroy Spa
BODY OF WORK

Half Off at the Viceroy Spa

There are two reasons you’ll want to bring a date to the Viceroy spa this month. The first: during June, all treatments are half off when you bring a guest (meaning that 60-minute Deep Knead massage is now $67.50). And two: there’s a co-ed hot tub.

HIGH CONCEPT

Miami’s Art Scene, Now on Film

You’ve probably stumbled upon the work of local artist Bert Rodriguez and his bizarre, often funny shows (like selling gallery space for ads or offering free therapy at the Whitney Biennial). Making Sh*t Up, premiering tonight, chronicles his art world exploits. And yes, you should probably invite that Wynwood gallerina.

Friday
Waterfront Cocktails at the Mandarin
GROUNDED

Waterfront Cocktails at the Mandarin

You’ve looked to Café Sambal’s waterfront terrace for elegant dinners of wine and curry. Now you’ll come here on Fridays for post-work $6 Kiwi Cucumber Martinis and ceviche and dim sum, all illuminated by the flickering lights of the downtown skyline. Think of them as giant tiki torches.

Fridays starting Jun 3, 4:30-7pm, Café Sambal, 500 Brickell Key Dr, 305-913-8358

Saturday
Bikini Models and Brazilian Cocktails
SEVENTH HEAVEN

Bikini Models and Brazilian Cocktails

Speaking of downtown, over by the seventh-floor pool deck at the Four Seasons, there’s a new Saturday pool party debuting this weekend. It involves a roving caipirinha cart dispensing $7 cocktails chaise-side and swimsuit models displaying the latest in bikini technology. A topic for which you have limitless patience.

Saturdays starting Jun 4, 11am-8pm, Four Seasons, 1435 Brickell Ave, 305-358-3535

Wednesday
Michy’s Fried Chicken Returns
BUCKET LIST

Michy’s Fried Chicken Returns

Michelle Bernstein’s legendary all-you-can-eat fried chicken feasts are back to their usual summer hump-day spot. But this year she’s added Korean-style birds (made with chilies, garlic and soy) in addition to the buttermilked American standard. Also on the table: endless sides of cornbread, pickled cucumber slaw and watermelon Greek salad.

Wednesdays, 6-10:30pm, $38, Michy’s, 6927 Biscayne Blvd, 305-759-2001
