Get ready to slap on your brain bucket and charge up the hog with the boys because the electric Harley-Davidson is coming your way as soon as next year. Project LiveWire—an electric prototype that went radio silent after its 2014 release—is the catalyst behind the brand’s latest model and is, according to president and COO Matt Levatich, “preparing to bring to market within 18 months."
SVP Mark-Hans Richter added, “Project LiveWire is more like the first electric guitar—not an electric car. It’s an expression of individuality and iconic style that just happens to be electric.” So just in case you were looking forward to watching Jax Teller wax a local shop owner before zip-a-dee-doo-dah-ing away in a modernized Sons of Anarchy spinoff, think again. The LiveWire boasts tire-screeching acceleration and a new sound akin to that of a fighter jet leaving an aircraft carrier. So, you know, instead of a motorcycle blowing past you on the freeway it’ll just be an F-22 hauling ass instead.
The original LiveWire was tested by actual handpicked riders and received positive feedback. We'll see what happens with its successor.
