Hey. Welcome back to the real world. We trust you had a lovely three-day weekend.

Now let’s talk about getting the hell out of town again.

And off to the DeBruce, a most handsome upstate lodge you’ll sleep in when you’re not fly-fishing, hiking private trails and working your way through nine-course meals in the scenic-as-hell open-air dining room, now open in the Catskills. It looks like this, which we think you’ll find delightful. Now, fade into a sunny Saturday morning, a few weeks from now...

9:05am: You open your eyes to find yourself in one of 14 cozy, rustic rooms in the three-floor lodge. You walk over to the windows overlooking the expansive views of the mountains, Willowemoc Valley and River. Ah, yes—nature.

9:07am: You point at a bird.

9:53am: An a la carte breakfast of an omelette and country hash. You need proper fuel for that hike you’ve got on your agenda this morning.

10:09am: You debate going on this hike or just hanging poolside all day. And you’re debating. And you’re debating.

10:10am: Hike it is.

10:10:30am: You commend yourself for choosing said hike.

10:30am: Okay, it’s about time to trek over one of the bridges and into the surrounding trees, valleys, and occasional pond. They’ve got four miles of private trails open this summer, with over thirty to come by 2019.

11:02am: Tired of the ease of it all, you decide to bushwack your own journey. That kind of thing is welcome here, as all bushwacking should be.

1:17pm: Back to the lodge for a dip in the outdoor pool. Fly fishing with a local expert on a half-mile of private river is also an option, should you have the energy.

3:08pm: To the spa for some aromatherapy or a massage. Or both. Go with both.

6:22pm: Down to the suspended glass-walled restaurant—summers, the windows open so you’re just about floating over the trees and valleys below. You claim one of the wooden two-tops and settle in for a nine-course dinner crafted by a BLT Steak alum. It’s one of the super locavore deals you’ve come to expect; they’ve got a garden, root cellar, pickling room and forest for foraging).

9:12pm: You retire to the Conservatory with a book and a glass of whiskey.

Yeah, let’s linger at 9:12 for a bit.
