This Wine Won’t Drink Itself

Drinking wine: it’s pretty fun. Thinking about what wine to drink: not quite so much. Fortunately, Perks is doing the thinking for the both of you, hooking you up with six bottles of a little Spanish gem called the 2014 “Tres Picos” Garnacha. Wine Spectator placed it in their Top 100 Wines of 2016. But it hasn’t let success go to its head.

GRAND STANDING

A Nonna-Approved Evening at Bacaro

Grand-opening parties are good. Grand-opening parties with gratis wine and champagne are better. Grand-opening parties with passed apps made with the chef’s Venetian grandmother’s recipes are king. Toss in a DJ and... right, you get it. You should go to Bacaro’s grand-opening party.

Jan 19, 8-11pm, no cover, Bacaro, 1625 Michigan Ave, Miami Beach, 305-397-8248, see the menu

Setai’s New Bar Is Missing Something (in a Good Way)
POP THE TOP

Setai’s New Bar Is Missing Something (in a Good Way)

The new courtyard bar at the Setai has a retractable roof. You should go out there on a sunny day and eat some truffle dumplings. Perhaps drink a martini. Wear some bright pants and feel all great about your decisions. Consider the bright pants optional in this scenario.

Now open at The Setai, 2001 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, 855-923-7899

Viva la Mezcal. And Tequila. And Chalupas.
DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE

Viva la Mezcal. And Tequila. And Chalupas.

Two new Mexican spots. Here we go...

Mercado Negro: Is a mezcaleria inside TacoCraft hidden behind a wall. There are many mezcals there.
Lolo’s Surf Cantina: Is a place with margaritas, mezcals, tequilas and bone marrow chalupas created by the godfather of Mexican street food, Richard Ampudia.

This was fun, thanks.

STANDARD MOVES

Now You See the Standard, Now You Don’t

Take everything but the beds from the Standard (yoga, music, dancing, food), move it to Biscayne Green for one fleeting Saturday, add frosé on tap, try not to be annoyed by the ubiquity of frosé on tap, and you’ve got... well, this pop-up from the Standard. Let’s hear it for huge buildups, though.

Got a Nice Little Brunch Here for You

Olla has a new weekend brunch with bottomless Bloody Marias and jars filled with smoked salmon and other examples of deliciousness. You should probably go play a part in that scenario, is all we’re saying.

Sat-Sun, 11am-4pm, Olla, 1233 Lincoln Rd, Miami Beach, 786-717-5400

Ginger Harris

On a typical Wednesday, Ginger Harris is likely seeking reposado tequila, squeezing her way to the front of a concert or jumping on the back of an Indian motorcycle. That’s just Wednesdays, though.
