suckling pig tacos at 1212’s new weekday happy hour.
Wednesday night: You’re watching the game with friends over draft wine and filet mignon
at Silver Lake’s new 33 Taps.
Thursday morning: Ugh, not doing that.
You should go to Catalina this weekend. There’s going to be a three-day, Step Brothers–inspired wine mixer featuring drinking by the beach and live bands playing in the sea breeze. It’s also just a really nice place to visit from time to time.
Red Medicine’s Jordan Kahn has a new breakfast and lunch spot called Destroyer. You’ll find raw oatmeal with red currant, parsnip soup with banana and fresh cheese dumplings with snap peas there. You will not find Count Chocula.
Some of the town’s best pastry chefs are rallying in Hollywood this Sunday for a benefit starring lots of sweet stuff. Expect cookies, biscuits and cakes from people like Roxana Jullapat, Bestia’s Genevieve Geris and Craft’s Shannon Swindle. A bake sale was easier than putting on a show.
