Tomorrow, La Cienega’s eminent Raku won’t be like it was today. Because it will suddenly start serving you lunch. And there will be charcoal-grilled pork cutlets, Kobe-graced bento boxes and soba noodles. That was not a haiku.

Shoemaker Clae and Parisian/Hollywood hotel Mama Shelter are coming out with a sneaker on Thursday. They’re white, waxed, full-grain leather, and the tongue depicts a fist that says “Mama ‘Hearts’ You.” So, serious bonus points with the person who gave you life.

When <em>Playboy</em> Gets Artsy...

Playboy is collaborating with Chinatown’s Slow Culture gallery on a big group art show in September. They’ll start with a party on Friday, previewing the work of featured illustrators, photographers and tattoo artists. Expect big things out of these publishing upstarts in the future.

Marcel Vigneron’s new Melrose restaurant, Beefsteak, is 100% vegetarian. Except when it’s not. Like when you choose to add Korean short ribs to your Oaxacamole bowl or get Scottish salmon slipped into your Catalan brussels sprouts. Then it’s not.

Frank Lloyd Wright was a genius. Take his Hollyhock House in Barnsdall Park. Had he not made room for a lawn, you wouldn’t be sitting on it, drinking wine, hearing classically arranged Bowie tunes from a string band and watching Ziggy Stardust on an outdoor screen on Sunday. The horror.
