Rule #1 when it comes to chef’s knives: don’t skimp. That said, consider this set made with fiberglass handles and German steel blades. They’re lightweight and evenly balanced with blades that are ultrathin and sturdy. Looks good, cuts great, end of story.

Today: Their new bakery opens with Sri Lankan curried corned-beef buns and two new large-party tasting menus.
Friday: The Ladies’ Room, a 1920s-Macau-themed cocktail lounge, will exist in their
waiting room.
Sunday: New seafood-centric brunch specials abound.
Monday: Is unfortunately just Monday.
The beach has sand, bonfires, good times and the lake. Surf, the Emporium guys’ aggressively beachy new bar in Logan Square, has late-night pizza, tequila- and rum-focused draft cocktails and summery bench swings. We’re not saying we’re comparing the two, but if we were, it’d probably be a wash.
Remember that whole Disco Demolition thing, when crazy rock-and-roll-loving fans destroyed disco records during a double header at old Comiskey Park? Well, now there’s a book about it. And a book signing involving an exhibition of relevant photos on Friday. And an after-party at Maria’s. That last part feels important.
Angry Crab is moving to Wicker Park on Saturday to set up a new shop. On their packing list:
—Giant Cajun-seafood-ready plastic bags.
—More chairs, seeing as this place is bigger than the original.
—A gleeful disregard toward anything resembling table manners.
—Garlic fries.
