Without Edward L. Doheny, there’d be no Greystone Mansion.
Or Daniel Plainview.
Let alone certain major street names.
Even worse, no this place...
Doheny Room: SBE’s refined slice of old Hollywood spread among one bi-level restaurant and lounge, opening Monday. Here, check it out.
You’ll find this breezy haunt bookended by Dan Tana’s and the Troubadour. With icon potential of its own channeled through Hotel Bel-Air–ish plant life, Beverly Hills Hotel–esque wallpaper, Johnny Cash and Stones photos, and a painting of the queen playing with her gum.
It’s the more sophisticated side of SBE you’ve witnessed at Hyde. Meaning you’ll be able to hear everyone over the Bowie when meeting friends after work for Loma Vistas made with mezcal, pressed ginger and pineapple juice.
Or consider a big night here. The kind that transitions from drinks into Cleo chef Danny Elmaleh’s Wagyu hot dogs, beef-and-foie-gras sliders and poutine using half a lobster.
Eventually, you’ll head upstairs to the lounge. Because it’s a lounge. Hang out, meet others and let the drinks work their magic until you head downstairs to do whatever in the photo booth backed by stained glass.
Think of it as midnight mass.
