You’ve been here before.
But you haven’t.
And yet, it really feels like you have...
Embrace the nostalgia at Millie’s Supper Club, a woodsy slice of middle-of-nowhere Wisconsin hospitality that’s somehow wriggled its way into Lincoln Park. It opens Tuesday, and this slideshow feels like home.
You may have thought the days of warm breadbaskets, giant moose taxidermy, lounge piano players and broasted chicken were behind you. And they would’ve been, had you not noticed the neon sign outside this place.
Maybe you start at the bar. A classic brandy Old Fashioned will do just fine, as will some beer-battered cheese curds. This is Wisconsin-in-a-restaurant-in-Chicago, after all.
For dinner, you’ll want to stride past the diamond-tufted red leather booths and into the carpeted back dining area. We’d be remiss if we didn’t suggest ordering the hand-rubbed prime rib or fish fry. But if you insist, they also make a mean blue-cheese-crusted filet mignon. It’s an enviably tough call.
And should you require dessert, know this: 1) They’re not short on ice cream cocktails here. 2) If you order apple pie, expect it to come with a wedge of cheddar cheese.
You probably require dessert.
