You know what you don’t see so much anymore in this city?
Places that are hiding other places.
Let’s take a look at one of those today.
Visana and Pisa Pizza, a pizza place with a whole dance lounge/cocktail thing going on in the back. It’s open now in Gramercy.
A common scenario occurs. You want something possessing a crispy crust, tomato sauce, cheese and perhaps pepperoni. “Pizza,” you think. “That should do it.” You go here to get it. Maybe you just go to the walk-up window and pick it up.
Now you’re thinking, “Well, this is great, I’ve got my pizza,” and you turn on heel and head somewhere else.
Your first mistake.
See, camouflaged in that nifty wall sculpture made of pizza peels is a door leading to something that’s not at all a pizza place. In fact, it’s full of organic mixed drinks (see here), empty floor space and a DJ booth. You know the sort.
There you’ll go with others and move your limbs to music until 3am, when things get really nuts and the coconut water starts flowing for Detox Hour.
You’ll thank them later.
