Look at your hands.
They’re so... what’s the word for not holding hot-chicken sandwiches and Manhattans?
Oh well, easy fix at Mason Tavern, a new place to eat, drink and enjoy the occasional summer breeze or two. It’s from the Concentrics people, and it opens tonight in North Decatur.
There’s a Livingston, Saltyard and Parish vet back in the kitchen. There’s a roster of libations with many a twist on many a classic beverage. And then there’s you, just sort of showing up and thinking, “I deserve this.”
It’s pretty dark and sexy. Couple antique cutting boards on the walls. A framed portrait of a majestic caribou. A bar that’ll make damn good sense come happy hour.
Take in its zinc top and railroad-tie bottom. Take that right on in. Then, open the beer list. It’s... robust. Anything from an 11.3% Belgian quad bottle to nine local numbers on tap.
And beyond the leathery booths in the back corner, you’ll see some glass windows. That’s the kitchen. It’s where your pork belly mac and cheese and Confit Hot Wings will be prepared.
But should the weather be nice and summer’s breezes pleasant, opt for the covered patio just beyond the open garage doors.
It’ll be the thing that’s a patio. Can’t miss it.
