Because here’s your first look inside 9beach Fusion Kitchen & Lounge Bar, an exotic, all-day hang for mango whiskey sours, salmon tartare and other post-beach-day necessities, opening tonight in South Beach. (See the slideshow.)
On the one hand, this place is nuts: white-and-gold wooden walls handmade in India, ornate lion heads, leather paneling in the bathroom and rock band lyrics splashed all around. On the other hand, this place is totally normal... for an Israeli beach club (they’ve got seven of them there).
But listen—don’t let all of that throw you off. There’s an incredibly relaxed come-as-you-are policy here. So if you’re out on the beach and the thought of something icy and liquor-filled starts sounding particularly nice, head on over. You and whoever you’re with will have the option of sitting in a rotunda-shaped booth toward the back or settling in at a table on the 5,000-square-foot patio.
Then, some mango whiskey sours, salmon-tartare-stuffed avocado and branzino will hit your table. A DJ will be spinning. You’ll look up and notice a quote: “I played with fire until the fire played with me.”
