Road trip.
We’re just putting that out there.
And as for your destination... we’re just putting that out there, too.
There’s about to be a vacancy at Hotel on North, an early-20th-century men’s emporium turned Berkshires hotel with oysters and claw-foot tubs to spare, now taking reservations for June 1.
Know this:
There’s a highly dapper backstory.
Back in 1910, this was a storied men’s outfitter called the Besse-Clarke. It was probably witness to some spectacular mustaches.
And a highly dapper present.
They’ve taken that old-school gentlemen’s club aesthetic and run with it. Hence the generous distribution of velvet armchairs, tin ceilings, gas fireplaces and claw-foot tubs across its 45 rooms. (This is your slideshow.)
Oysters and charcuterie await you downstairs.
At a hybrid eating/imbibing/raw bar situation called Eat and Drink on North. On the eat side, you’ll make quick work of Korean BBQ duck from a former Ace Hotel chef. On the drink side, you’ll slink onto a leather sofa with a Where’s the Money, Lebowski? It’s got vodka, cream and cold brew in it.
You’re ending it all in the Library Suite.
There you’ll find floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and a separate sitting room with a full wet bar.
You don’t half-ass a wet bar.
