“Hey, everybody, come stay at my new place. It’s majestic.”

Thanks, Vermont. We’ll take it from here.
Witness Field Guide, a smashing new mountain lodge in Stowe, Vermont, where you’ll while away the days and nights with a heated pool and a private deck and maybe some fake hunting trophies, taking reservations now for October 1.
This was once Ye Olde England Inne. But little of the Ye Olde past remains. Now, the aesthetic here falls somewhere between mid-century ad agency and cabin in the woods. (The slideshow can attest to this.)
Your story begins in the Trail Suite. There’s a fireplace under a white cardboard buck head that’s best contemplated while sitting in a club chair and wearing something tweed. And there’s a private deck for peeping the hell out of leaves.
If it’s fall, you’ll go explore the bounties of a local cider mill or maple-sugaring barn. Then, you’ll return to explore the bounties of their heated pool, hot tub and adjacent fire pit lounge.
If it’s winter, you can count on early-morning slope runs and afternoon dogsledding before evening fried chicken at their forthcoming restaurant, Picnic Social.
It’ll be an indoor picnic.
