Today, we’d like to introduce you to Holden & Astor. It’s a big, ambitious piece of dinner-date
real estate in Meatpacking, it’s from the folks behind the Mulberry and Greenwich Projects, and—this is
key—it’s opening tonight.
Sure, you can scope it out in the slideshow. But here are a few things you should know first...
—They’re staking a claim to the city’s greatest mac and cheese. Bold: yes. True: well, it’s cooked like risotto with ditalini, mushroom and truffle. At the very least, it’s a start.
—They’re bringing the party brunch into the future, with deep house and no sparklers and... well, they’re playing it by ear. It’s where Beaumarchais was, so... big shoes and all that.
—The cocktails have serious pedigree. They come courtesy of a vet of the aforementioned Mulberry Project (you know the place—on the LES, well-hidden, great at cocktails). Our recommendation: the Wembley Stadium (check what that’s about here).
—Get dessert. Specifically the coffee donuts.
It’s like indulgence is inherent to the place or something.
