Put down your macchiato.
Put down your old-school camera flashbulbs.
Put down your shirt with lady’s legs emblazoned all over it.
You won’t need that stuff where you’re going...
Because you’re going to Henry & June, a new hybrid café/clothing store situation that you’ll turn to for any and all caffeinating-while-buying-pants instances that may arise, soft-open as of today in Virginia Highland.
This is what happens when a rather charming couple takes over an empty space near Bill Hallman and turns it into what looks like a not-red darkroom (old cameras, sexy photos, X-ray-style prints...) and then fills it with leather boots, Imogene + Willie denim and coffee.
First, find Daniel behind the hexagon-tiled counter. He’s the Aurora and Octane vet who’s going to set you up with a coffee flight. Nice guy. He’ll chat you up while you browse through things like sunglasses, colorful ties and cotton shirts with flowers, snakes and eyeballs on them.
And before we forget: make a point to swing by Friday night. They’re having a little opening party with cocktails, coffee and the Black Lips guitarist spinning vinyl records.
Somebody better find that guy a damn guitar.
