The sun hath found your head equipped,
To shield your eyes whilst gin was sipped.
And when beauty passed at steady clip,
Your rounded brim you kindly tipped.
Your rounded brim you kindly tipped.
Point is: hats.
They’re all at Goorin Bros., the first Atlanta outpost of the storied 120-year-old hatsmith, opening today at Ponce City Market. (Your head will enjoy this slideshow.)
There are just so many hats in this place. And people who know about hats. And hat history. It’s like a museum of things that you can touch, put on your head and take home.
Inside, you’ll find antique steamer trunks, Oriental rugs and some former gramophone speakers turned hanging lights.
Then, after you find those things, someone will greet you and begin looking at your head. Let them. They’ll ask questions and suggest certain hats based on your size, shape and lifestyle. Stuff like woven-straw Panamas for the beach, waxed-canvas fedoras for the rain and top hats for storing rabbits.
Couple other things: they’ll have gratis summer cocktails on Thursday evenings. And for special/weird occasions, there’s a feather bar should you find the need to add a little flair to your headpiece.
