It’s not that you have anything against drinking magaritas on a great patio...
No, that’s it. That’s the whole thought.
Do that thing you have nothing against at El Condor, a breezy beauty of an indoor/outdoor Mexican spot from the owners of L&E Oyster Bar, opening today at 4pm in Silver Lake.
Assuming the margaritas you previously had here didn’t create any... memory lapses, you’ll recognize this as the old El Conquistador spot. (RIP.) It’s a little different in here now. Think seductive candelabras, scenic Mexican tiles and 950% more natural light. There’s a retractable roof over the front patio.
Dates. Those really help complete the whole patio-and-margarita picture. So call up someone who prefers their fresh juices with tequila in them, and find your place in the sun. If you’re there for happy hour, you’ll order from the bar upstairs.
Then you might run into some friends, or make some new ones. Whatever. Your other plans might quickly evaporate. You might stay put and decide you want some tacos, jalapeño-topped burgers or huitlacoche-and-squash-blossom quesadillas for dinner. And another round.
They’ve also got plenty of añejo Negronis and La Lloronas, made with mezcal, ginger beer and pineapple juice, in case you’ve found yourself with someone who’s not into margaritas.
Hard to imagine how that could happen. But life is unpredictable.
