Good times celebrating Mom yesterday.
She certainly deserved it.
But the rest of this week: it’s about you.
And you’d like some tequila.
Here’s some salt, here’s some lime, and here’s Pozo Mercado, a two-story haven of Mexican provisions, tequila cocktails and patio brunches, now soft-open on McKinney Ave.
Chalk up another one for the La Reve guys (the Standard Pour, Sfuzzi, Villa-O). They’ve turned this empty white house into something far more useful. Specifically, a polished den full of wooden pillars, leather banquettes and gold-framed mirrors. Also, a menu that includes boudin azteca and poblano mac and cheese.
If the weather’s nice, grab one of those white chairs on the patio. It’s a good starting point for The Pozo (tequila, lemon, ginger and huckleberry shrub). Then, take a glance inside. Notice the bar on your right. That’s nice. And the stairs on your left. That’s helpful. They lead up to a dimly lit sanctuary of dark wood, blue drapes and, hey, look at that, another bar. Seems these guys thought of everything.
Oh, and a word about tacos. They’ve got them here. Until 2am. So those ought to come in handy when you’re hungry around closing time.
Tacos. Always there when you need ’em.
