So Art Basel is heading to Hong Kong. And bringing its coterie of artsy wildness with it. You’ll need your usual sharp eye for pre-mid-postmodernism. But also: a library full of whiskey and at least one taco joint that turns into a dance club. Naturally, we’ve got you covered—and then some.
At some point—say, just after acquiring your sculpture garden’s pièce de résistance—you may have an urge for barrel-aged pisco sours in a cocktail bar that looks like a Peruvian pirate ship, with bamboo trimmings, a faux-starlit ceiling and everything. Especially now that you know such a thing exists.
More than anything—even more than the art—you should be excited for Hong Kong’s wet markets. Because that’s the part where you’ll saunter between a lantern shop and a live squid stand into a jazz-filled lounge where cocktails are served on silver platters. Yes, you love that part.
