Things to do for May 10, 2013

The Weekender

Spending the Night with Body-Painted Models. In a Museum.

Nothing tastes as good as the weekend feels.

Friday
A Nocturnal Bike Ride. With a DJ.
DARK MOON RIDING

A Nocturnal Bike Ride. With a DJ.

It’s Friday. So it goes without saying that a DJ will be in your very near future. It goes with saying that a DJ will be rolling alongside you during a 6.5-mile group bike ride that starts at 10pm and ends when you request Queen’s “Bicycle Race.” It should, at least.

Saturday
Spending One Long Night at the High
OVERNIGHT SENSATION

Spending One Long Night at the High

We have some bad, good and incredible news. The bad: the Frida & Diego exhibit is almost over. The good: they’re ending it with an overnight party at the High. The incredible: it’ll have body-painted Fridas, margarita popsicles from King of Pops and lucha libre wrestling. Incredible wins again.

The O4W Has Been Taken Over by Bands
BUSINESS AS UNUSUAL

The O4W Has Been Taken Over by Bands

Tomorrow in the Old Fourth Ward, you’ll find live music everywhere. We mean... everywhere. Twenty-four businesses have coordinated to host performances, so expect anything from live jazz at a welding company to an indie quintet at Ammazza to a 10-piece horn band at a dentist’s office. Which seems slightly dangerous.

It’s Nice Out. Yep... Barbecue and Beer.
BREWED AWAKENING

It’s Nice Out. Yep... Barbecue and Beer.

Last year, Hogs and Hops debuted. You went. You saw. You vowed to return again. And tomorrow, you fulfill that vow by heading to SweetWater, procuring some grilled meat from the likes of Bone Lick and Fox Bros. and having some beer ice cream. Pairs great with non-frozen beer, too.

Sunday
You Bring Mom. They Bring Brunch.
O MOTHER, WHERE ART THOU

You Bring Mom. They Bring Brunch.

Sunday is Mother’s Day. Try to remember that. Try to remember flowers and chocolate, too. And... actually, just remember to make brunch reservations at Olmsted. They’ll have gratis long-stem roses, chocolate-covered strawberries and mini photography sessions for your mom. Aw, they should have.

May 12, 11am-3pm, Olmsted, 1180 Peachtree St, 404-443-8431
