You’ve probably heard: the craft brewing industry is descending on DC this week for its annual conference. But you won’t have to sit through seminars on yeast cultivation to taste a few beers. You just have to head to the many public events they’re throwing. Like these...
On the menu tonight at Meridian Pint: 14 beers (mostly IPAs) from East Coast and West Coast breweries like Smuttynose and Lagunitas, respectively. And coming out of the speakers: some classic DC and California punk and hardcore.
If you’d prefer your music live, the Hamilton’s got a week of beer-themed music. Well, more like a different band each night, sponsored by a brewery from each band’s home state. Which, naturally, will bring plenty of beer.
And now for something barely appropriate. Head to Jack Rose’s roof terrace on Tuesday, where they’re matching four Flying Dog beers with cigars, each named for an element of the Clinton impeachment, like The Starr Report and The Blue Dress. It’s worthy of your own independent investigation.
We’ve got some numbers to throw at you. Like 60, 3 and 4. That is, the number of craft drafts that one ticket gets you access to across three Penn Quarter bars—Rocket Bar, Iron Horse and Penn Social—from 4pm on. Oh, and those beers are all three bucks. Call it an economy of scale.
Over the coming week, Smoke & Barrel will be pouring 82 beers (they counted). Most will be good. Some will be great. All day Saturday, they’ll focus on the latter, as they pour their favorites that are still lingering in the cooler, along with several CBC releases from local breweries. And then, we’ll say goodbye.
