As fate would have it, tomorrow is National Pig Day. And as fate would also have it, pigs are delicious. Which is exactly why you’re going to D.B.A. for a pork-centric buffet (house-smoked suckling pig, ribs, pork belly...), $3 moonshine and a screening of Porky’s. Like they’re not going to screen Porky’s.
The Atlanta Food Truck Park. Great place to eat food. And this weekend, it’s also a great place to find the first-ever Taste & Brews festival. You’re looking at unlimited tastings of over 100 beers like Stiegl and Imperial, live music and a DJ. And presumably... food.
Maybe you went to the Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival last year. Maybe you didn’t. Either way, you’re going this year. Partly because there’ll be 60 beers (Ommegang, Heavy Seas...). Partly because there’ll be 40 bourbons (Blanton’s, Pappy Van Winkle’s...). But mostly because there’ll be BBQ. Actually, flip that.
So this is new. Some California-based artists just took a miniature, illustrated excerpt of John Steinbeck’s Cannery Row and, well... they sealed it in a shrimp can. Yep. And this weekend, you get to show up and bear witness as they open it with a special can opener. You get to do that.
Max Lager’s is turning 15 on Tuesday. You should stop by and wish them a happy birthday. Oh, they’re also having a little 15-day bash and doing things like tapping a cask of Grand Cru ale, throwing random parties and bringing back their beer prices from 1998. Great year for prices.
