The weekend can say that again.
Well, it’s almost here. Mandatory Date Day. Also known as Pretty-Great-Excuse-to-Check-Out-This-Huge-Sale-at-Lyonstate Day. It’s that seersucker-y online store from Alabama. It’s got things like coal-black leather oxfords, Italian knitted ties and double-breasted blazers. Note: those also work after February 14.
Apparently, this weekend starts the beginning of Atlanta’s art season. Apparently. Because here comes a two-night art auction/party to kick it off. It’s at the Mason Murer gallery with open bars, jazz, DJs and plenty of art (think latex paint on tar paper and collages of trees). Right. Start at the bar.
The Atlanta Underground Market is doing their thing again. Only this thing is entirely focused on aphrodisiac foods. Like artichokes. And figs. (Who knew.) Which works out, because you may or may not want to prepare an amazing dinner next Thursday. That may or may not turn into an amazing after-dinner.
You know Wynton Marsalis. He’s that classic jazz trumpeter/composer/all-around hell-of-a-live-musician guy. Turns out, he’s doing a one-night-only show at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as part of his 25th-anniversary tour. And you’ll be going to that. Just letting you know.
Serpas is having a little Mardi Gras party on Fat Tuesday. The chef’s from New Orleans, so they’ll be decking the place out with masks and beads. And a live jazz band. And hurricanes. And gumbo. And crawfish pie. And king cake. And... hopefully they can keep the lights on.
