You might remember that newish Silver Lake joint, with all the blonde wood... and blondes, going to town on pork-belly tacos and lamb burgers. It opened. Then it closed. Now it’s back. This time, they’ve got beer and wine. Sometimes, just sometimes, a remake can outshine the original.
Not so long ago, the late, great men’s shop Alpha closed. (Sad.) Then a cool furniture shop called Apt2B popped up in the space for a while. (Cool.) Now they’ve both taken over part of a women’s shop to bring you sofas, bow ties and gift-y gadgets. Something about the holidays coming up.
You go to a brewery. Think about a pint. And then settle into Warrior II pose. You’re not crazy. You just went to your favorite brewery for a yoga class. Golden Road is doing them on the lawn—and yes, they’ll give you a beer afterward. Nope, not crazy at all.
Terminator 2—finally, somebody realized its potential as a stage play. Thankfully, it was the guys behind Point Break Live. This time around, they’ll pull somebody from the audience each night to play the good-this-time Terminator. Try to capture the subtle nuances of the original performance.
Next time you’re in the mood for a quick day trip—Sunday ought to do it—point yourself toward the Westlake Village Inn, near Malibu. It’s on a private vineyard, and they just opened a new restaurant focused exclusively on coffee. Just kidding, it’s focused on wine. But they do have coffee.
