Lunch.
It’s your favorite midday activity. You’re great at it. And today, you know exactly what you want.
A good burger. A local beer. And some place where you can lie low, play hooky and consume the two.
Well, that’s not going to happen today. Today’s a salad.
And that’s not going to happen tomorrow. Tomorrow’s a warm bowl of goulash.
But Wednesday... Wednesday’s your lucky day.
Here’s Hopdoddy Burger Bar, a shining beacon of juicy cheeseburgers, Dallas beers and power lunches, opening Wednesday in Preston Center.
Nothing is reinvented here. And that’s okay. Because there’s something to be said for a scratch-made burger on a fresh-baked bun with a big tall beer. And that something is “I’ll take two of everything.”
You’ll want to schedule this spot for your next on-the-clock lunch or weeknight burger session. Head straight for the counter in the back. Order the Frito-pie-topped Terlingua burger and some hand-cut fries. Or maybe the Llano Poblano (beef, pepper-jack, roasted poblanos, bacon and chipotle mayo). Yes, we’re still talking about burgers.
Then, find a black leather booth, or a green stool at the rectangular bar, and plan to stay awhile. Also, plan to drink something. Like one of their 16 draft beers. Or their beet juice Bloody Mary. Or a Nutella and chocolate-pretzel milkshake.
Which unfortunately isn’t available on tap.
