The Weekender

If You Like Eating Contests, This Is Going to Be Some Weekend...

The weekend is the window to the soul.

Thursday
A Multicourse Meal of Peaches
JUST PEACHY

A Multicourse Meal of Peaches

If you’ve never had an all-peach dinner, then: 1) you’re probably not alone, and 2) go to Rosebud tonight. They’re serving six courses made up of things like grilled peaches, smoked peach puree and peach chowchow. Peach. It’s the new bacon.

Friday
Speaking of Bacon...
BURNING MAN

Speaking of Bacon...

There’s a contest tomorrow at D.B.A. to see who can down the most bacon and margaritas in five minutes. Which you’ve got—no problem. But there’s a catch: the bacon is habanero-flavored and the margaritas are jalapeño. Also, there’s a catch to that catch: it’s just a warm-up for Saturday.

Saturday
Eating Fried Pickles Really Fast
IN A PICKLE

Eating Fried Pickles Really Fast

Another day, another five-minute-long eating competition. Only this one involves devouring fried pickles in the middle of Centennial Park. And if you win: tickets to a Falcons game and some gratis burgers/fried pickles. That’s assuming you’re still hungry. Ever again.

A Whole Lot of Spicy
PEPPER SPRAY

A Whole Lot of Spicy

Tacos, paella, empanadas, pineapple rum, blueberry tequila, salt rims. All things made better when made spicy. So, enter Eclipse di Luna. They’re hosting a gathering/outdoor concert for pepper lovers this Saturday. Expect everything to be served with a kick. And expect another eating contest. They’re sort of your thing now.

Skee-Ball. Jenga. Beer. Boom.
BEER GOGGLES

Skee-Ball. Jenga. Beer. Boom.

There’s a festival happening this weekend at the Masquerade. There’ll be skee-ball, jumbo-size Jenga and a Stokeswood concert (think acoustic, but electronic). Also, indecent amounts of barbecue and beer. Which is sort of necessary if you’re going to be playing jumbo-size Jenga.
