Sparkling Oyster Shooter

Even in a city with a virtually limitless array of dining options, some dishes are way too good to miss—they demand immediate consumption. Every month, our feature Served Up gives you the lowdown on a standout dish in the city. Dig in.

Inventing the wheel: a seminal human endeavor (certainly makes getting a taxi easier). Reinventing it: generally unnecessary, per the old cliché.

Sometimes it's best to just take a great idea and improve on it. In that spirit, we present the Sparkling Oyster Shooter: an enhanced Bloody Mary oyster shooter that could become the latest addition to your stable of go-to drinks, now available at Lure Fishbar.

The recipe is simple enough: Drop an oyster into a rectangular shot glass in a bed of ice, pour in a just-spicy-enough Bloody-style tomato broth (includes lime and orange juices mixed with horseradish, celery salt, Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce) and Camitz sparkling vodka (alcohol with bubbles, an eternal source of inspiration).

But we like this shooter for its flexibility—an appetizer at dinner, a nourishing happy hour shot as you begin your night or a variation from your normal hangover remedy (for medicinal uses you'll want to double up).

Think of it as a shooter for all seasons.
