Telling the High Museum What to Do

Let’s talk about tomorrow night. Specifically the part where you head to the Midtown W, grab a martini from the open bar and enjoy a nice candlelit dinner. Oh, and also the part where you vote on which pieces of art will become part of the permanent collection at the High. Curate responsibly.

ROCK AND AWE CAMPAIGN

Legends of Rock. Also, Dancing.

Morrison. Cobain. Hendrix. Joplin... These are music legends. Sadly, these are also people who passed away at the not-so-ripe old age of 27. And so a little group called Gathering Wild decided to pay homage to the “27 Club.” By dancing around. It’s a dance show about rock legends. Pirouetting: suddenly more acceptable.

This Is How You Winter...

There’s a party in the Gold Room parking lot this weekend. It’s called the Buckhead Beer Fest. And as you might imagine, there will be beer. Well over 100 of them, actually (Bohemia, Bell’s, Smuttynose...). There’s also live music, food trucks and a wine-tasting tent. If you figure out why, let us know.

BEARD SCIENCE

A James Beard–Worthy Feast at Rosebud

So chef Ron Eyester from Rosebud just got invited to cook a Beatles-themed dinner at the James Beard House. Quite the honor. And to practice, he’s going to do a dry run of the entire thing for you—think Magical Mystery Tour (mushroom manicotti/lamb jus) and Octopus’s Garden (chilled octopus/baby fennel). Hopefully, I Am the Walrus missed the cut.

PIE CURIOUS

Behold the Frito Pie Burger

You’re privy to any number of scenarios at the JCT. Bar: quaffing juleps with julep-quaffing belles. Competitive oyster-offs. And now, a Frito Pie Burger (it’s a brisket burger with chili, housemade “Frito” corn nuts and pickled jalapeños) and a beer for $10, Tuesday through Thursday. Fridays are your Funyun burger nights anyway.

Tue-Thu, 5-10pm, $10, Burger and Beer Nights at the JCT. Bar, 1198 Howell Mill Rd, Ste 18, 404-355-2252
