Well, it’s almost here: the weekend.
Okay, that’s not true. It’s not even close. But when it finally comes, there’ll be just one thing to do: walk on water.
Well, kind of...
Meet Stand-Up Paddle, a way for you to journey across Grapevine Lake with just a board, an oar and your unbreakable balance, taking reservations now.
You’re probably already familiar with stand-up paddleboarding, but just in case, here’s a refresher. Picture yourself as a gondolier in Venice. Then swap out the boat and the scarf for a surfboard and board shorts, and you get the idea.
Step one: learn to swim. (Chances are, you can skip to step two.) Step two: set up a lesson with Coach Don, a professional surfer turned competitive paddler. He’ll help you perfect the art of guiding your vessel without belly flopping into the water.
So Saturday, you’ll meet on the docks. They’ll loan you a board and an oar, and you’ll shove off while standing straight up and trying to stay balanced. With the wind in your hair and the water at your feet, you’ll navigate in and out of coves and around the occasional swan. Afterward, you’ll glide over to Big Daddy’s patio to hydrate with a cold beer.
It’s the unofficial sports drink of paddleboarding.
