Okay, so Car-mageddon: kind of a letdown.
Bacon-wrapped hot dogs: rarely, if ever, a letdown.
So as you return to your life behind the wheel, it’s time today to focus on the latter...
Welcome to District 13, a new spot for beer, wine, sausage and hot dogs wrapped in salty pork salvation, now open in the heart of Hollywood.
In this grungy-on-purpose spot hidden in a Cahuenga Corridor strip mall, you’ll feel like maybe Car-mageddon really was the end of days, with only some bold graffiti, random car hoods and fragrant sausages surviving the fallout. Along with some extremely fortunate members of the Cahuenga nightlife circuit.
So if you need to fuel up before your night, grab a table up front by the windows and order some highbrow sausages like Duck Foie Gras with Sauterne Wine or Smoked Buffalo with Apple Brandy.
But if you’re feeling nostalgic for your last curbside feast (or it’s 1:30am and you’ve got to soak up the last few hours), you’ll want to stick with The Danger Dog, wrapped in bacon and topped with grilled onions and peppers.
Either way, they’ve got plenty of wine chosen by Covell’s wine guy and about 40 craft beers hailing from everywhere from California to Copenhagen.
If this is the afterlife, at least there’s beer from Copenhagen.
