Things to do for June 30, 2011

The Weekender

Where to See Explosions, Eat BBQ and Drink Cold Drinks

The weekend is about to make some bad decisions.<br />

Thursday
A New Food Truck Party. Weird.
TRUCKER’S DELIGHT

A New Food Truck Party. Weird.

We have some breaking food truck news. Which is interesting, because nothing food-truck-related ever happens these days (except for always). Anyway, there’s a new Thursday night truckathon (the Pup Truck, Tex’s Tacos...) every Thursday at the Buckhead Theatre. Go ahead, eat things. Then go inside and drink.

Friday
Piedmont Park Launches Beer Gardens
PARK AND RECREATION

Piedmont Park Launches Beer Gardens

You should try something different this weekend. Like drinking beer and wine at Piedmont Park... legally. Well, at least you’ll have the option now. Because the park-y powers that be just launched a roaming beer garden series, hitting places like Dockside, Legacy Fountain and the dog park. We like your chances.

Strange Things Afoot at the Goat Farm
MOON-FACED

Strange Things Afoot at the Goat Farm

If you’ve never cocktailed your way through the vine-covered ruins of the Goat Farm, we’re going to suggest making your debut at tomorrow night’s Bomb the Moon party—a clandestine gathering involving food trucks, beer, live music, an art auction, performances by gloATL and, yes, a fortune-teller. Humor her.

Monday
7am Bottle-Popping... Let’s Do This
MARKET WATCH

7am Bottle-Popping... Let’s Do This

Here we go. Big day Monday. In fact, you might want to start it at 7am. Because Market restaurant is throwing an all-day (and -night) patio bash with live bands, DJs and prime vantage points for checking out the Road Race and Lenox fireworks. Oh, and it’s in a hotel. Just saying.

Jul 4, 6am-midnight (bar opens at 7am), no cost (or $25 VIP), Market, 3377 Peachtree Rd NE, 404-523-3600, tickets here

Yacht Rock & Beer on the Aquarium Roof
AGE OF AQUARIUM

Yacht Rock & Beer on the Aquarium Roof

But should you choose to do your explosion-watching a bit further south, you’ll find the rooftop of the Georgia Aquarium waiting for you. Along with the Yacht Rock Review, BBQ from Jim ’N Nick’s and beer samples all night. Centennial Olympic Park: best enjoyed from a distance since 1996.
