Omelets with a Side of Ostrich Pants

Well, this is unexpected. The search for the perfect omelet and the search for the perfect pair of ostrich pants.

Turns out, they’ve led us to the same exact place.

But before you can enter, you’ll need two things:

1. An invitation.
2. At least a thimbleful of creative energy.

Behold Jay Kos, a private Nolita menswear shop where you’ll satisfy your inner Rod Stewart and consume a spot of lunch, now open for appointment only.

If Willy Wonka got out of the Gobstopper game and into the fashion industry, his house of style would probably look something like this.

On the ground level, you’ll find the floors are stained a deep shade of oxblood, the walls are covered with python and the dandyish clothes are on sensory overload. A quick tour of the wares reveals leather blazers (with the cow’s hair left on), impeccably made mint green suede bucks and the babiest bluest linen pants you’ve ever seen. In other words, what you’d wear to a Sunday dinner with friends. After performing the closing number at the Grammys (Jay-Z and Kanye are clients).

Of course, you’ll soon discover that shopping here involves spontaneously cooked meals by the owner/designer in a kitchen that sits right in the middle of the shop and gratis cigarillos in a brick bunker basement. Which also happens to double as a bespoke suit and fedora workshop.

In hip-hop parlance, it’s where the magic happens.
